Elme Metall participates in a hull construction project for a fishing trawler
The Elme Metall prefabrication and service centre in Klaipėda, along with the Vakarų Baltijos laivų statykla shipbuilding yard, another subsidiary within BLRT Grupp, have begun working on a project to build the hull of a fishing trawler. They have started by cutting metal and are fabricating parts of shipbuilding steel and steel sections.
The keel parts of the trawler will be made from 200-mm thick plates. A single blank for such parts weighs around 15 tonnes.
The vessel hull, measuring 50.45 m in length and 13 m in breadth, will require approximately 700 tonnes of parts. The hull is scheduled to be received by the customer in late 2024.
